Peter Tobiessen has taught aquatic biology at Union College in Schenectady, New York, for many years and has participated in research and environmental impact studies on many local lakes. His family owns a small camp on Sacandaga Lake near Speculator in the Adirondacks.
A member of the local lake association, he realized that many members were eager to know more about their lakes. As a scientist, professor and avid lake enthusiast, he hopes that learning more about our lakes will inspire everyone to more fully enjoy their aquatic adventures.
Here's what Bill McKibben said about Professor Tobiessen's book:
"What a sweet book... Those of us who have paddled and swum and waded in the lakes of the north will find this book full of answers to all the mysteries that have ever occurred to us, and many more besides."
