Marcia Rasmussen, director of the town’s Department of Planning and Land Management, updated the Select Board Monday night on parking at White Pond. She said more parking restriction signs may be needed, but they have to be ordered and installed.
She also said she is in the process of organizing a meeting with town staff to coordinate all of the actions that the Select Board wants for the pond this year, including no swimming off town-owned land, parking restrictions and erosion controls.
Rasmussen said Town Manager Chris Whelan would like most of the measure in place by the end of June, including the hiring of two park rangers to enforce the restrictions.
She also said there is still money remaining in the contract with Nelson-Nygaard to develop a program to address parking in the White Pond area, with the idea of soliciting the consultant’s input in a program for the neighborhoods around White Pond.
